Objective
To conduct a 5-day intensive English training day camp for primary and junior secondary school English teachers in Baojing County, a poverty-stricken rural county in Western Hunan, China.
Beneficiary
1) Baojing County (保靖縣): Located in Western Hunan (湘西) and mainly inhabitated by Tu (土家族) and Miao (苗族) minorities, the county one of the 586 counties designated by the State Council as a poverty-stricken county.
2) Around 40 English teachers of primary and junior secondary schools in Baojing County.

Fee
$3500 (included airfare, local transportation, accommodation and meals).
The English Immersion Camp
The camp will last for 4.5 days and all participants are required to speak only English during the camp.
Various activities will be organised to enhance the participants’ ability to use English in their teaching and to teach English to their students effectively.
All teacher trainers are expected to contribute to the development of the activities and be person in charge for one or more of the activities.
IRD will provide information for the programme planning and will be responsible for purchasing and/or making copies materials recommended by the teacher trainers.
Requirements for the Teacher Trainers
1) Experienced in teaching English as a second language;
2) Volunteers with no English teaching experience are welcome to join teaching assistants.
