Outstanding Village Teacher Prize
The 2006 Outstanding Village Teacher Prize was awarded to 6 winners. Under the harshest environment, the teachers never flinched from standing firm at the frontline of education, dedicating almost their entire lives to teaching students for more than 20 years.
Outstanding Village Primary School Teacher Prize of Bao Jing County
In February 2002, after finished filming the documentary about Shi Yuan Fu (who was the primary school teacher of Bai Yan Village), we made a proposal to the Education Bureau of Bao Jing County about holding a joint election to praise the teachers who have been making contributions to education in remote areas. Under the agreement, the IRD would sponsor five prize-winners; while the Education Bureau of Bao Jing County would be responsible for making arrangements such as the organization, publicity and planning of the award, as well as evaluation and prize-giving. The amount of sponsorship in 2002 was RMB 3000. Moreover, the IRD would fund RMB 300 for administrative expenses such as postal charges. The original agreement expired in 2003, both parties agreed that the award was a success. As the award provided encouragement to the primary school teachers, the parties agreed to hold the election on an annual basis with its effect subjected to review.
